“Be Nice to people and Be Nice to yourself”

“Be Nice to people and Be Nice to yourself”

# Nice to people     # Respect       # Mental Health     #Happiness

I heard this recently from our CEO in an online call. While it is not a new position as it is all around empathy, but the way the statement was sewn within the current context stuck me like lightning strike.

It is not unusual for me or most of us to be nice to people more than occasionally. Equally it is not unusual for me or most of us not to be nice to ourselves, albeit occasionally!

Reflections

I have been reflecting on this at a deeper level. Ego, Jealousy and Envy, many a time, drive us away from nicety when being with people. Have an argument with another person and dragging the argument for long, especially holding on to a position, without even a temporary forbearance generally leads to bad taste lingering for a substantial period. Even, at the face value, if one feels having won the argument but once sunk in, the feeling is generally of a loser. What is the use of such win or loss when it does not mean being “Nice to Self” - leave along being “Nice to Others”!

Future ahead

In my professional email signature section, I tagged this statement not just to be a tag line alone though! It reminds me and the receiver of the communication on the impactful statement. Frankly, even in last one month, since I inserted this tag line, I could once internally question myself on a certain transaction and instead of reprimanding myself or feeling guilty, I resolved to be more consistent in future. So, it works - yes it works!!

Thoughts?!

Sure, each one has a check-scale instilled in your system - physically, physiologically or emotionally. Happy to learn on your system too and how you feel it works!

Look forward::: Humbly yours

Ramayana - Bhakthi Rasam - Deeper Reflection

Ramayana - Bhakthi Rasam

Ramayana is a soulful joy - full of values and ample scope for reflection.

"Shravanam - Mananam - Nidhidhyasanam" ==> the steps to practice as per vedantic principles, could easily be applied here. Once learnt / heard, there is lots of reflection of the same to be followed.

These sets of recordings focus the mananam part, having seen the episodes again and again, concentrating on specific aspects of our day to day life, that inspire me.

One such key theme is Bhakthi - loosely translated as "Devotion". I always wondered how and what is Bhakthi, when seeing great Bhakthas of the ancient and Indian history. How they, themselves, being great saints and personnel in their space, happened to be true Bhakthas. Veera Hanuman, Bhaktha Prahlada, Maa Yashoda, Gopikas, Trimurthis of Karnatak Sangeet - hearing of their stories amazes me - each of them are inspiring and authoritative souls but they were humble Bhakthas propagating their Guru's teachings and principles.

This recording is about one such evolution - how in Ramayana, through the happenings, I see the evolution of Bhakthi - what is the route map! Don't get me wrong - this is not an analysis, through head, but a heartfelt feeling. from my heart and emotion. Bharatha, the inspirer in this case!!!

Enjoy the episode and please write back to me, for feedback - I shall be blessed - Jai Shri Ram!!

Humbly yours
